We hold regular parent and family workshops throughout the year.  We have  friendly, informal meetings where those attending may celebrate special times from all cultural backgrounds. We may have a guest showing us how to make something or be learning a new skill with the group.  Children are sometimes invited to work with their parents.  Refreshements are served and parents enjoy bringing contributions of food from home.

Some workshops this year have been:- EID, Black History Month, Diwali, Making Christmas Angels, Flower Making and Baking.

Curriculum based workshops, such as the 'Maths Workshop' below, are held to help parents/carers support their children's learning.

Maths Workshop

We held two maths workshops for our Reception parents during the 3rd week in January 2012.  These workshops gave our parents useful help, tips and beneficial resources needed to help support their child's learning at home.

We received such positive feedback, we'd like to share this with you:-

  • It's given me lots of ideas to use in order to help my child in maths;
  • It was good and useful, especially the bright coloured number lines and the activity sheets;
  • Very useful, we can use the materials at home and help independently but know its what they are learning at school;
  • It's given me a clear, good understanding of what my child is learning;
  • A great way to introduce school learning in the home;
  • Such useful tips on how to help my child;
  • We now know we are showing our children the correct way;
  • We've learnt different ways and techniques to make learning maths fun both at home and school.

A big thank you to all our parents who took the time to fill in the feedback form and for their positive feedback and lovely comments.
