Friday 27th March 2020

Bonjour a tous! That is 'Good morning all!' in French! laugh

Hope you have woke up feeling fresh and ready to learn. Wow! I can't believe that it is Friday already! I know you have all worked hard this week, so please make sure you look at the link '100 Things To Do Indoors' for some fun activities that you could do over the weekend!

Linked to Coronavirus, rainbows have taken on new meaning. Children everywhere are drawing, painting and making rainbows to put in their windows to remind people to keep smiling. It would be lovely if you could be part of this! Here are some examples.

Remember that Joe Wicks is doing a live PE lesson at 9am everyday! (I had fun doing the 'Pikachu' move yesterday!) If you miss this at 9am, it is saved on his Youtube channel so don't worry! Here is the link again:

Linked nicely to our 'Paws, Claws & Whiskers' Topic, Chester Zoo are doing a Live Virtual Zoo Day starting at 10am! If your parents have access to Facebook, follow this link https://m.facebook.com/events/2287733068192442?acontext=%7B%22ref%22%3A%223%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22null%22%7D&aref=3

I wonder which animals you will spot! Which animals do you want to see? Have fun!

They're featuring many of your favourites...

10am - Red Pandas

11am - Giraffes

12pm - Asian Elephants

1pm - Butterflies

2pm - Sun Bears

2.30pm - Sumatran Tigers

2.45pm - Penguins

4pm - Aquarium

This matches our topic so well, so check out your favourite animals.

Here are some activities to complete today:

Phonics

Phase 4 Pairs game: https://www.phonicsbloom.com/uk/game/word-pairs?phase=4

Click on two cards to see what is on the other side; the aim is to match the picture to the correct word. Enjoy!

Don't forget to practise your spellings in the 'Spellings' folder for our test on Monday 30th March 2020.

Maths

Start each day with a page from the Flashbacks. They're saved in the Maths Folder. Remember, this will consolidate what we have already learnt! You should be on Week 1 Day 5 today.

Warm up: Can you count to 50 forwards, then backwards?

Access the Home Learning Lesson 5 Measure Capacity on White Rose Maths.

1) Click on https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/

2) Click to play the video 'Lesson 5 - Measure Capacity'

3) Click 'Get the activity'. If you can't print this off, could you write your answers down on a piece of paper?

4) Click 'Get the answers'. Can somebody mark this for you?

 5) Can you fill different containers with the SAME cup? How many cups does it take to fill each container? Look at my example below.

Break time

Time for a break! Have a go at 'Popseeko- Go Noodle'

 https://app.gonoodle.com/activities/pop-see-ko?s=Search&t=popseko

English

Look at the Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar mat. If you can't print the document off, can you write your answers on a piece of paper? The answers are also attached for somebody to check for you.

Reading

Read some of your home Reading book, then choose an activity to complete from the 'Reading Grid' in the 'Reading Folder'. Ask your parents to ask you questions about what you have read. Could you write down some of your answers?

David Walliams is also reading a story each day; today's story is 'Trish The Troll'. Here is the link:

I'm sure you are ready for some lunch now!

Topic

What is your favourite wild animal? Mine is the Cheetah! I just love their beautiful patterns and I am very impressed that they are the fastest land animal in the world! They can reach a top speed of around 75mph! Wow! Maybe you've seen some new animals from the Chester Zoo Virtual tour this morning.

1) Can you draw and colour/paint a picture of your favourite wild animal and label it?

2) Can you write a sentence to explain why it is your favourite wild animal?

Don't forget capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Story Time

We have been learning all about fables. Here's a new one called 'The Fox and the Grapes'. You can listen to it and read along using the transcript, just like we did with 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf'.

Have a fantastic day and weekend! Remember to look at '100 Things To Do Indoors' over the weekend. I am going to be doing a Spring Clean. Each day this week I have done the Joe Wicks workout, some Yoga and a walk so I am going to continue this on Saturday and Sunday.

I am missing you all very much. Speak to you on Monday! Sending lots of virtual hugs and high 5's!
