Monday 11th May

Morning all.

I'm writing this on Sunday, having had an excellent weekend. Our street went all out to celebrate VE day. A house close to ours had a full sound system set up; they'd moved all their furniture into their garden and dressed up as people from the 1940s. Their music kept us entertained all day.

It was really hot, so we spent all our time in the garden, using our BBQ and watching Seth have endless fun in his paddling pool. I put his big slide into the water and he constantly just went down and made lots of splashy mess - the boy is fearless.

This was the first weekend where I don't think lockdown affected what we were doing. When the weather is perfect, the garden is where we would have chosen to be anyway. What fun things did you all get up to? Let me know via email:

I'm going into school on Monday to meet up with Mrs Allen, Mrs Ahmed and Mrs Hemminingway. We will be sitting around a big table, so we can stick to social distancing rules, but I'm excited to see them all. I'll take a picture from our classroom whilst I'm there and upload it for tomorrow.

Miss you all (especially those of you who have already done, or are going to do an Accelerated Reader test today!)

For maths today I'd like you to focus on the white rose home learning. It's based on fractions and going over some work we've done previously in the year. Fractions play such a big part of life in year 6, so it's vital you are really secure with these. Week 4 lesson 1. This on multiplying fractions and mixed numbers by whole numbers (integers)

Watch the video and then do the sheets that I have attached (they are no longer given on the website.

Afterwards, I'd like you to do more practice from this link:

This link above is what you must click through to get on to Accelerated Reader. 21 out of 32 of you have not done a test since school ended. To be honest with you, I find this disrespectful and disappointing: I have asked many times throughout this time for this to be a priority and something I really wished you to do. In my check in emails and phone calls this week, this information will be passed on and I will be following up on this until you take it seriously. I know some of you have struggled getting your details. Email me if this is the case and I'll get them to you.

For the English based subjects this week, we are going to have a space theme.

Some of our reading will be based on fiction, and other parts on non-fiction.

Today I'd like you to read through the text underneath and answer the questions as you go.

The last page contains the answers, so please check these AFTER you've completed your work.

We aren't doing any writing today, instead I expect an hour of reading your book and/or completing your Accelerated Reader Test. The link 1 more time so you have no excuse.

For this afternoon, we are going to computing and PE.

For computing:

This is all about debugging and algorithms. The last activity is football based and one even I had a go at!

For PE:.

1 minute break.

20 Star jumps, 20 press ups, 20 burpees, 20 sit ups, 20 seconds sprinting on the spot.

30 seconds break.

30 Star jumps, 30 press ups, 30 burpees, 30 sit ups, 30 seconds sprinting on the spot.

To end, hold the plank for as long as you can!
