Monday 15th June

Good morning year 5

I hope you got to enjoy the return of the sunshine this weekend. I did.  I did some work in the garden and then had some family time playing games and then relaxed with my book. I think I was even worse than normal on the quiz and came last by a long way. I really need to do better next weekend. Now its back to work time.

Spellings

Don't forget to test yourself on last weeks spellings (still available on 8th June Daily Tasks). Then look at the activities for this weeks spellings.

Maths.

Arithmetic test first. Then we have some revision of percentages this week. If you think you know this well enough then you can try the alternative content on Multi-step addition and subtraction problems. You don't have to do both. All worksheets are attached below.

This week, for reading and writing, we will be studying rainforests.  Read Gary's Big Adventure and answer the questions.

English.

This is a task about summarising dialogue and giving an opinion. It's based around an extract from 'The Wolves of Willoughby Chase', my class might remember we started reading this as a class reader. The activity involves a presenter reading part of the story to you. It is a fantastic story. Enjoy!

Today you are going to research animals and plants that are threatened by deforestation (cutting down the trees in the rainforest).  You need to find 6 animals or plants that have been affected by deforestation and write down some information about them.  I have down the first one for you (Peruvian Woolly Monkey), so you need to find 6 more.

Art.

Back to BBC Bitesize for an Art and Design task today.
