Good morning 1S!
Welcome back to the first day of our new half-term. Have you had a good week? Many of you will also have celebrated Eid, too. I know that your celebrations will not have been the same as they would normally be, but I hope that you still managed to enjoy them. The weather has certainly been kind to us hasn't it?
Let's get started with today's tasks, here is the link if you would like to start with a Joe Wicks workout: https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1
Here are some activities to complete today:
Please complete your spelling test. Use the spelling sheet that is labelled 'Test Date Monday 1st June 2020' in the ‘Spellings’ folder. Maybe an older sibling could test you? Once you have done this, please practise your letter formation.
Have a look at next week's spellings, these are saved in the 'Spellings' folder as ‘Spellings 01.06.20’.
Phase 5 Alternative Spellings /air/. You will need to log in to access this game. https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/
Then scroll down to ‘Phase 5c Interactive Resources - Weeks 8-30’ and find ‘Alternative Spellings /air/’.
In ‘Phoneme Spotter’ you need to see how many different graphemes you can find for the /air/ phoneme- you could list the words. In ‘Word Sort’ you need to read the word, then sort it to the grapheme used.
Remember, you need to be able to apply these different spellings in different words. Can you write some of these words?
Start each day with a page from the Flashbacks. They're saved in the ‘Maths’ Folder. Remember, this will consolidate what we have already learnt! You should be on Week 8 Day 1 today. Did you get 4/4 correct?
Warm up: Can you do 10 push ups and 10 hops? How many is that? Can you finish with 10 star jumps? How many have you done altogether? Can you count on from this number in 10s, up to 100?
Access the Home Learning Lesson 1 - ‘Sort 3D Shapes’ from White Rose Maths. We have already covered some 3D shape activities in school so you should be fairly confident with this.
1) Watch this video:
2) Here is your activity. If you can’t print this off, could you write your answers down on a piece of paper?
3) Here are the answers. Can somebody mark this for you?
Here is a problem to finish with:
Time for a break! Go Noodle- Rainbow Breathe.
In English, for the next four weeks, we’re going to be focusing on poetry. Each week, we will look at a different season.
This week, we are starting with Spring.
Our first poem is called ‘Spring is here!’ and we will be learning about rhyming words.
Before we look at the poem, start with these interactive activities:
Here is our first Spring poem: ‘Spring is here!’
Can you guess what the rhyming words are that have been covered up? Don't scroll down until you've decided what the missing words should be!
Can you think of any more rhyming words?
Can you write your own pairs of rhyming couplets using words from your list?
Here are my examples:
I fell from the tree when I swung on the rope,
So I had to have a bath with bubbles and soap.
For my wife I bought a diamond ring,
But just wrapped it up with paper and string!
I'm sure you are ready for some lunch now!
This week we are going to look at a story by one of my favourite authors, Julia Donaldson. I am sure that you will have heard lots of stories written by her before. One of my favourites is The Gruffalo! Here are your tasks:
I know that you have all heard of Jesus, but what do you already know about him?
Jesus lived more than 2000 years ago but he is still remembered by millions of people today because of the things he did during his life and what happened after his death.
Today, we are going to read the story of his life. Please click on the presentation below:
Your task is to read the sentences and draw pictures to complete the storyboard of the life of Jesus.
There's a great song to link with this week's work on Spring in this awe and Wonder folder. It's called: 'It's a Spring Thing'.
You'll also love 'Everywhere Around Me' in the same folder. This links with our RE work on Creation that we did just before the holidays.
I hope you've had a great first day back!
