Monday 27th April

Picture 1

Happy Monday 5G.

So this weekend I have spent as much time as possible in the garden, making the most of the sunshine. We have had a barbeque and even got the paddling pool out for the dog who loves playing in the water. I made time to do some baking on Sunday morning, the pictures are on the Photo Gallery, everything was delicious. We also played Bingo using a video chat with all our extended family, I won a full house - woohoo! I hope you all got to do something fun, send me some pictures through with permission from your parents and I will put them on the Photo Gallery - I would love to see what you have all been doing.

Right back to work and first of all Monday morning is Spelling test and Arithmetic test. The spelling test is on last weeks words and below I have attached your new words for next week, there is a matching word activity to make sure you know what these words mean. For the Arithmetic Test go to the Maths folder and find the most recently added.

Also, have a look at White Rose Maths, you know what to do. This should be quite straight forward, in the Arithmetic practice we have been looking at more difficult questions than this. Click on the link - https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/

Summer Term – Week 2 (w/c 27th April) - Lesson 1 - Adding decimals with the same number of decimal places.

For Guided Reading this week, I have changed the format a bit we are going to look at one text all week - Michael Morpurgo's 'Private Peaceful'. Today's lesson has an inference focus, all you need to do is read the extract from the text and infer what this tells you abut the character Big Joe. I have found this book free online so you can all have access to it - https://fliphtml5.com/nbao/fomw/basic you can also get it free as an audio book on Audible if you sign up for a 30 day free trial.

This week we are going to have a Spag focus so I will set you a quick set of Spag questions each day. What I need you to do, if you don't understand any of the questions to find out about this area of Spag on the BBC Bitesize app, which has videos on all parts of Spag - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zhrrd2p. The Spag Activity mats have three levels of difficulty so challenge yourself - the answers are also included so you check your answers.

For Science, I thought it would be nice to use the Twinkl website this is one of the free ones that you got the information for in the pack I sent you - https://www.twinkl.co.uk/home-learning-hub/2020-04-27 the offer code is CVDTWINKLHELPS. It has a Space task set for today, which I thought lots of you would find interesting.

Finally, I thought you would like a bit of Art, I'm going to have a go at this one they look amazing. So it is letter art, you can try your initials, name or do one for someone in the house as a gift. I found these images on line and their are lots more.
