Monday 30th March

Hello lovely people.

It's the beginning of our 2nd week of home learning, and I'll be honest, I'm hating it!

This is my 6th year of teaching, and for the first time in my career, I've found myself bored. This actually made me feel really proud, as it confirmed that I do my job for the right reasons: I enjoy teaching, and spending time with children - this class more than any before.

This weekend myself, Lauren and Seth tried to make the most of our daily exercise. We went on a couple of nice walks and enjoyed the fresh air. It's funny how things you previously took for granted, now become the best parts of your day. We treated ourselves to a take away on Friday night - and I've never seen someone enjoy food as much as Seth enjoyed his pizza. We are also moving house fairly soon (when all of this blows over), so we've been tidying up our garden, doing some painting etc, to ensure our house is as nice as possible when the next people move in.

I'd like to say how proud of you I was for your effort in the TTR competition. Our class had the first and 2nd top score is the boys (You two were absolutely amazing!) and the highest of the girls. We also had more people join in than any other class. Next Friday will be teachers v pupils. I really hope you will ALL join in with this.

Anyway, today's work:

For Maths today, can you go to week 2 of the home learning on white rose. Watch the video as many times as you need, and then do the activity sheet - check your answers at the end. If you've got any wrong, you will need to do corrections, showing full working out.

It is lesson 1 - step 6

Our next lesson will be Guided Reading. I know you are going to love this one. I have attached an extract of 'The Diary of a Wimpy Kid', the questions are based on the extract attached only and there is an answer sheet so you can check your answers.
Using 'The Diary of a Wimpy Kid' as inspiration, this whole weeks writing task is to your diary entries. Can you make it as funny as Jeff Kinney? Why not try some of his funny little illustrations to decorate the work? I can't wait to read them when we get back to school.

Following writing, you can do the Joe Wicks PE lesson - just go on the youtube page and the days lesson will be there. https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1

Make sure you work hard and earn your lunch break!

Song of the Day - this is by a band called Foo Fighters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dwuzqF6huc

Afternoon - Today will be our Science afternoon this week - I'd like you to do the research about a famous Scientist of your choice. You should create a presentation on them - this can be written, or using technology - powerpoint, pressie etc. You should include:

Information about who they are, Date of Birth etc.

The reasons they are famous, and the impact they have had.

Other fun and interesting information.

Have a great day. I will be emailing all of your parents/guardians later today just to check how you all are. You will be able to email me back with any questions you have. I'd like a bit of an update from you all, so if you wish to type back, please feel free and I'll get back in contact as soon as I can. If you don't receive an email, it's because we don't have one on the system - so you could contact us on facebook with an up to date email address, and I'll send it on.

Really miss you 6R-H.

Mr R-H
