Monday 4th May 2020

Good morning 5/6AA.  It's the start of another week and some of you may have noticed that there are only four days for this week's work.  This is because Friday 8th May is a bank holiday and it is also the 75th anniversary of VE day.  We learnt a bit about VE day last week, so this week all of our reading and topic work will relate to VE day or World War 2 in general.  I hope you will commemorate VE day in some way (even if it's just making a cake, that's if you can manage to find some flour) because it was a very important day in our history. Now let's get on with some work, so here are your tasks for today:

Maths

Go to whiterosemaths.com - home learning - year 6 - summer term week 3 - lesson 1 simplify fractions.  Watch the video to remind yourself how to simplify fractions and then complete the worksheet by clicking in get the activity.  Check your answers once you have finished.

Extension task:

If you want some extra Maths to do, have a go at the multi-step word problems worksheet below.

Reading

Read the information about Winston Churchill and then answer the comprehension questions.  The answers are at the end, so you can check your work once you have finished.

Writing

Look at the image on page 2 (it may remind you of Floodland) and then complete the tasks on pages 3 to 7.  You can check you work using the answers at the end.
