Good morning 2S!

How are you feeling today? I was in school again yesterday and it felt very strange without you. It was super quiet and it made me miss all of your wonderful, smiley faces even more. To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, I've got a special story to share with you at the end of the day. It's also linked to a film that I'm sure you know.

How did you get on with your Art activities yesterday? Did you make a robot or did you make a spaceship porthole instead? Please send me any pictures that you have taken so that I can share them with your friends.

Here is the link if you would like to start your day with Joe Wicks PE:

Here are your activities to complete today:

Here are the plural spelling rules that we've been learning and using so far this week:

There's another rule that we need to learn:

There are some more examples on this PowerPoint:

Now that you've learnt all of these plural rules, you'll be great at playing this game. It's called 'Planetary Plurals' so it links well to our Zoom to the Moon topic, too.

It's on the Phonics Play website again and this is what you're looking for:

Remember to login with

Username: march20

and Password: home

Click on the 'Resources' tab and this time you will need to select 'Phase 6'.

Scroll right to the bottom and click on the image to play the game.

All that’s left is to check your report through and do any editing. Have you checked your spellings? Have you made sure that your reader can breathe by using the correct punctuation?

It’s now time to produce a neat copy of your report. Use your most beautiful writing, making sure that there are clear spaces between your words and that all of your writing is sitting on the lines with the descenders (tails) hanging down. Check that your tall letters are tall enough, too.

Here’s the template again:

Copy out the first page today, and leave the second page to do tomorrow.

Here's the link to today's Flashback:

Yesterday, your work was all linked to the 2x table. Did you practice all of your skills on the Hit the Button game?

Today, we're consolidating your learning on the 5x table.

Here's today's video:

Here are the worksheets to do. I think you'll whizz through these again but take care particularly with the missing number problems. When you fill in the missing number, read the calculation through from left to right to make sure that it makes sense.

You'll definitely be very familiar with both of these super games by now. You can focus on the 5x table or any other times tables that you know that you need to practise.

Which game do you like best? My favourite is 'Hit the Button'.

Here are today's Problems of the Day:

Now it's time to read through the whole story. Here it is:

You can open it as a PowerPoint presentation or as a PDF.

Have you enjoyed this story? Why? Why not?

You are now going to pretend to be Beegu. Read through these questions and answer them in role as Beegu.

In our topic learning, we are moving on to learning about the weather.

Today we are going to find differences between seasonal and daily weather and this will link to a special task that I would like you to do during the holidays.

What season are we in now?

What is the weather like at the moment?

Before we look at the PowerPoint slides, can you write a list of the four seasons, and then write a few words which could describe the weather in each season?

I have started you off with the first of the seasons and one weather word.

  • Spring - windy, _________, _________
  • .......... - _________, _________, __________
  • .......... - _________, _________, __________
  • .......... - _________, _________, __________

Now look through these slides and discuss them. Check your list against the information on these slides. Did you have some of the same weather words for each of the seasons?

Your task is to write a weather diary over the school holidays; that is Monday 25th May to Sunday the 31st May.

You could have a practice and write an entry for today.

Choose one of these templates or make your own little weather booklet.

As promised, we're going to end the day with a special story to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

First, I'd like you to watch this clip from a film which I'm sure that you'll recognise:

Inside Out: Guessing the feelings.

And now here's the special story:

The Colour Monster - Read by Sherry

The Colour Monster - by Anna Llenas. Read by Sherry. You can get the book and read a bit about The Colour Monster on our Blog! 💖: https://whatchildrenreallyw...

See you tomorrow for the last day before the holidays.
