Good morning 1S! laugh

How are you feeling today? I am in school again today and it still feels very strange without you. It is super quiet here and I am missing all your wonderful, smiley faces! To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, I've got a special story to share with you at the end of the day. It's also linked to a film that I'm sure you know.

How did you get on with your Art activities yesterday? Did you make a robot? Did you make a spaceship porthole instead? Please send me any pictures!

Here is the link if you would like to start your day with Joe Wicks PE:

Here are some activities to complete today:

Phase 5 Alternative Spellings /ar/. You will need to log in to access this game.

Username: march20

Password: home

Phase 5

Then scroll down to ‘Phase 5c Interactive Resources - Weeks 8-30’ and find ‘Alternative Spellings /ar/’. Click ‘North of England’.

In ‘Phoneme Spotter’ you need to see how many different graphemes you can find for the /ar/ phoneme- you could list the words. In ‘Word Sort’ you need to read the word, then sort it to the grapheme used.

Remember, you need to be able to apply these different spellings in different words.

Please continue to practise your ‘18.05.20 Spellings’ for our test after half-term.

Start each day with a page from the Flashbacks. They're saved in the ‘Maths’ Folder. Remember, this will consolidate what we have already learnt! You should be on Week 7 Day 4 today. Did you get 4/4 correct?

Warm up- Count in 10s to 100 then backwards. Count in 5s to 100 then backwards. Count in 2s to 20 then backwards.

Today we are going to recap 3D shapes.

1) Click this link and play the video:

2) Here is your activity. If you can’t print this off, could you write your answers down on a piece of paper?

When you get to question 2, you could print out these shapes to create your train. If not, you could have a go at drawing them.

4) Here are the answers. Can somebody mark this for you?

Here is a problem to finish with:

Break time

Time for a break! - Cha Cha Swing

All that’s left is to check your report through and do any editing. Have you checked your spellings? Have you made sure that your reader can breathe by using the correct punctuation?

It’s now time to produce a neat copy of your report. Use your most beautiful writing, making sure that there are clear spaces between your words and that all of your writing is sitting on the lines with the descenders (tails) hanging down. Check that your tall letters are tall enough, too.

Here’s the template again:

Copy out the first page today, and leave the second page to do tomorrow.

I'm sure you are ready for some lunch now!

Now it's time to read through the whole story. You can open it as a PowerPoint or a pdf.

You can also listen to the story here:

Have you enjoyed this story? Why? Why not?

You are now going to pretend to be Beegu. Read through these questions and answer them in role as Beegu.

In our topic learning, we are moving on to learning about the weather. Today we are going to find differences between seasonal and daily weather and this will link to a special task that I would like you to do during the holidays.

What season are we in now?

What is the weather like at the moment?

Before we look at the PowerPoint slides, can you write a list of the four seasons, and then write a few words which could describe the weather in each season?

I have started you off with the first of the seasons and one weather word.

Spring - windy, _________, _________

.......... - _________, _________, __________

.......... - _________, _________, __________

.......... - _________, _________, __________

Now look through these slides and discuss them. Check your list against the information on these slides. Did you have some of the same weather words for each of the seasons?

Your task is to write a weather diary over the school holidays; that is Monday 25th May to Sunday the 31st May. You could have a practice and write an entry for today.

Here is a choice of two templates. If you can’t print them, create a similar template on a piece of paper.

As promised, we're going to end the day with a special story to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

First, I'd like you to watch this clip from a film which I'm sure that you'll recognise:

Inside Out: Guessing the feelings.

And now here's the special story: The Colour Monster - Read by Sherry

Have a lovely day! laugh
