Thursday 7th May

Morning all!

It's the last day of our week. I've received some great emails with codes for me to solve - I'll have a go tomorrow. But to one of you - my face is not like a monkey! Keep sending these in! ben.raven-hill@kirkleeseducation.uk

How good is the weather at the minute? I spent all of Wednesday in the garden playing and working. I expect more of the same today.

I expect it makes fasting more difficult for those of you who are. On the subject of Ramadan, I got 2 emails today from different parents who said they were so proud of the effort their children are putting into keeping the fasts. I wanted to say congratulations and that I'm very proud of you as well.

As always, I miss you all, and cannot wait for the day we hear this is over. Hopefully we hear something from Boris Johnson on Sunday!

For maths today I'd like you to focus on the white rose home learning. It's based on fractions and going over some work we've done previously in the year. Fractions play such a big part of life in year 6, so it's vital you are really secure with these.

Watch the video, do the sheets, then mark your answers.

This one is about adding and subtracting mixed numbers.

For Guided Reading we have our final non-fiction text this week, which is all about VE day. The answers are on the final page.

For English today I'd like you to focus on active and passive. We've done some work on this earlier in the year, but many found it difficult so this is an important skill!

It's also the final day on the VE activities so have a look and see which activity you want to do today. I have found another set of clips with different peoples stories about VE day.
