Tuesday 23rd June

Morning year 5

So the sun is back for a few days and I want you to try and get some time outside exercising this afternoon (if you can).

Maths.

Today we are looking at some new learning, building on the work you did in year 4 on angles. We are looking at position and co-ordinates in the first quadrant. If you need more help BBC Bitesize has this - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zgthvcw/resources/1

Mrs Walker's group A

We are continuing with place value.  You have two worksheets to complete.

Mrs Walker's group B

Today you will focus on addition and subtraction.  Read each question carefully.

Guided Reading.

We are going to look at some vocabulary first, which will help you when you then read the 1st chapter of the book 'Children of Winter'. Then I want you to start thinking about predictions. Use these sentence stems, which will help prepare you for tomorrows learning.

I predict the book will be about...because...

I think Catherine will... the evidence that suggests this is...

I think Catherine is acting strangely because...

Read Seeds and Weeds and answer the questions.

English.

Our first lesson for English is going to be looking at the features of diary writing. Look through the lesson, read the three examples and complete the activity.

We are focusing on subordinate clauses again today.  Follow the instructions on the worksheet below.

PE.

These quick and simply activity suggestions are fun and can be done in the garden or inside your house. Challenge yourself to beat your own score, or see if you can get someone else in your house involved.

Have fun and don't forget to read as well as the activities online. The children in school are doing 15 minutes of reading each afternoon and I expect you to do this also.

Speak to you tomorrow.
