How are you all this morning?  We hope you are all keeping well.

How did you get on with yesterday’s activities? How many of you got 10 out of 10 for your spellings? Remember you can continue to email us your work and pictures. We always look forward to receiving your pictures and videos - it brightens up our day. Did you enjoy reading the Winter poem? This afternoon we'll be doing some more topic work, but here are the activities to do first.

Get ready to play Alien phonics words.

First click any of the sounds to play the game.

Identify the real and alien words.




Now get ready to play the Pond Life Plurals Game:

Read the word the frogs reveals. Decide what you would need to do make that word a plural. Click on the correct lily pad. You will get ten turns.  How may can you get right?

In today’s lessons we are going to look at when we need to add an –s, and when we need to add -es, to the end of words. Here is today’s PowerPoint. Click on it when you are ready.


Activity 1: Cut and stick the words and sort them into columns.  Add ‘s’ or ‘es’ to change the words into a plural.


Activity 2: Can you write the nouns underneath the pictures and add ‘s’ or ‘es’ to make them into plurals. Then use these plurals in sentences and remember capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

Y1 Mental and Oral starter Activity:

Practice your daily 10 challenge. Click on Level 2 then click on Ordering Two Digit Numbers. Put the largest number first and record your answers on paper or on a whiteboard for each question. Click on the manual time set button. Answer all 10 questions then check your answers at the end. Then play the game again and click on ordering the smallest number first.

Today in English we are going to read another Wintry Verbs Poem. Read the poem a couple of times with fluency and expression. Here is a quick reminder of what a verb is:



Task 1: Draw a circle around all the verbs in this poem.



Task 2: Complete the spaces below using these different verbs. Make sure your word choices make sense.


Now you are going to write your own wintry poem. Here is a template to get you started.

Try writing your own snow poem in the same way. There are some nouns which you could use to begin each line with.

Here is your task:


Today we're going to look at the city of Tromsø, Norway. The slide shows its location on a globe. Is it near the North Pole, South Pole, or Equator? Click on the slides when you are ready.



How might its weather be different to the weather in then UK?

Can you imagine what it would be like to live in Tromsø? What sort of fun, winter weather activities could you do there?

Stop at slide 14 as we will continue with rest of the topic in tomorrow’s art lesson.

Sequence the Tromsø diary cards, then copy the captions onto the Picture Diary and illustrate them.
