Good morning! laugh

I hope you enjoy your first day of home learning. Here are your activities for today:

Phonics

Please click the correct folder:

Your spelling tests are also saved in this folder.

Guided Reading

Here's the front cover from our new book. Study it carefully and look at the details in the picture. You will then have some questions to answer.

Here's the blurb from the back of the book:

You're going to love this little girl introducing and reading this book to you:

Vlad and the Great Fire of London Book by Kate Cunningham : Story Time with Zara

This book will also be really important for our Writing work that we will start next week and will link to PE and Topic too.

Maths

Let's start with today's Flashback. These are all things that we have done before but doing these Flashbacks help to keep things fresh in your mind.

Here is a game for you to recap our learning on addition. Work out the answers using objects, then drag the robot to the correct answer.

Today we are going to start our learning on subtraction. When we subtract, or take away from a number, the starting number gets smaller. We are left with less objects.

Here is your task:

Here is your Now Try This challenge to finish with:

Topic (History/Current affairs)

Who is our monarch?

What is a monarch?

What do you already know about our monarch?

L.I. To learn about Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch of the United Kingdom.

Here is some information about Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II:

Which caption would you put with each of the pictures below?

What extra captions could you add for each photograph?

You may want to use this poster writing frame or you can make your own poster on plain paper:

You may want to use some of these photographs or you can draw your own pictures:

P.E.

Our indoor P.E. work this term is Dance based upon the Great Fire of London. Don't worry, you can still do this at home. Maybe you can get little brothers and sisters involved too.

All you will need to do is play this music file and follow the instructions:

TimeToMove-20160527-TheFireBeginsInPuddingLane.mp3

Evaluation time:

What did you like?

Was there anything that you disliked?

How did the dancing make you feel?

Can you describe your dance to someone in your family?

Next week, we'll look at being more inventive with the dance, giving you an opportunity to devise your own movements instead of just following the instructions.

Reading books

I hope you've already read the reading book that you took home before the holidays. If not, please read it to an adult now.

Now would also be a great time to sort out the books that you have at home. Make a pile of the books that you are going to read. Some may be old favourites, whilst some may be ones that you have never read before. If you've got older brothers and sisters, maybe you can raid their collections, too!

Thank you for all your hard work today! We would love to see your posters. Take a photo on a parent's phone and send it to me by email at lisette.sykes@kirkleeseducation.uk

We could put some of your work on this website - how great would that be!?

We'll be back tomorrow with some more tasks for you!
