Continue and click on the PowerPoint and focus on Lesson 3:

In today’s Math’s lesson we are going to be learning time to the hour.

Click on the PowerPoint slides:

In this lesson children will be introduced to an analogue clock. Discussion should include the order and positioning of the numbers on the clock and what they indicate. At this stage children are not required to tell the time to the hour. It is important that children can distinguish between the hour and minute hand, realising that the longer hand is the minute hand and the shorter hand is the hour hand.
Ask questions such as:
How many numbers are on a clock?
Where should the numbers go? What do they mean?
Which hand is the minute / hour hand? How do you know?

Independent Maths Activities:

Practical Activity: Make a clock face.

Children will create their own clock focusing on the order and positioning of numbers. They will discuss the purpose and importance of the hour and minute hand.

Click on the website to practice time to the hour.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/time/teaching-clock

Continue to click on the PowerPoint and focus on Lesson 4:

In today’s Math’s lesson we are going to be learning time to the hour.

As children are now familiar with the layout and structure of a clock, they will progress to telling time to the hour as __ o’clock. They will read and draw time to the hour on a clock and be able to indicate which hour comes before and after the given hour. It is important children realise that the short hand points to the hour and the minute hand will always point at 12 for o’clock times.
Ask questions such as:
What is the minute / hour hand pointing to?
What time is it? How would you write this as a sentence?
For o’clock times, which hand stays the same and which changes?
What is an hour before / after __ o’clock?
Can you show me / draw __ o’clock?

Independent Activities:

Activity 1: Children will match the times to the correct clock and progress to writing the time. They will then draw the times on the clocks for given times to the hour.

Activity 2: Time maths challenges let’s see how you get on. Remember to read each challenge carefully before you work out the answer.

English:

How did you get on with your blog yesterday? Have you checked your spellings and made sure that every capital letter and full stop that is needed is in there? (We don't want anyone having to hold their breath for too long, do we!?) I'll bet some of you have shown off your skills with commas, question marks, exclamation marks and apostrophes, too. Any that I receive will be added to the photos and videos folder.

Here's one of my favourite pictures from the Bob - the Man in the Moon story:

Guided Reading

Today's Reading task is linked to V.E. Day and comes in three different levels with answers:

Special work for V.E. Day.

Each afternoon this week, I would like you to choose an activity (or more than one if you wish) from this grid. What did you choose yesterday? Today, I'll be making the Wartime scones with the small group of children who are in school.

Remember, if you click on the underlined links they will take you to recipes, code information, dance instructions and much more. What will you choose to do today? I can't wait to find out. Remember to let me know through emails, photographs or videos. Have fun!

Time for a story:

Today you are going to listen to a story called, Zombies Don't Eat Veggies! I hope you enjoy listening to it. Click on the link on the video.

Zombies Don't Eat Veggies! read by Jaime Camil

I hope you have a wonderful day and remember to do your best and be good for your parents. Let me know which activity you have chosen form the V Day grid.

Bye for now and see you all tomorrow.
