Good Morning Children and Your Parents
How are you all this morning? We hope you are all keeping well. How did you get on with your English work yesterday? We hope you are enjoying the topic work and finding it interesting to learn about seaside holidays from the past. Well, today you will be very excited as we are going to be making a rock pool in art.
Today’s phonic story is called “Exploring the Boat”. We are learning to write words that contain y saying /ee/.
Here is today’s phonics PowerPoint and the activities that are linked to it.
Activity 1: Read the words and sentences. Write the correct ‘y’ word to in each space to complete the sentences.
Challenge: Make up your own version of today’s activity. Create some sentences for someone else to complete with the ‘y’ words missing. Write the ‘y’ words in the lolly below for them to choose from.
Activity 2: How many words ending in a ‘y’ suffix (pronounced as an ‘ee’ sound) can you think of? Fill them in on the word web below.
Let’s do a mindfulness activity. Just click on the video.
Mental and oral starter Activity:
Quick recall of addition and subtraction facts.
You have 2 minutes to answer as many Maths facts as you can. Each time you get one right you’ll drop a piece of fruit into your smoothie. When your time is up you’ll whizz your smoothie and make a tasty drink. How many can you answer in 2 minutes?
Here's your Flashback page to help you remember things that we've already done: Press play quickly when you open up the PowerPoint so that you don’t see the answers until you’re ready!
