Wednesday 17th June

Happy Wednesday Year 3,

I hope you had a great Tuesday and enjoyed completing the work that we set. Miss North and I were busy yesterday helping Mrs Allen and Mrs Ahmed / Mr Raven Hill get their offices ready for everyones return to school. We became really good at wallpapering their display boards (I think that we could set up a business wallpapering houses, LOL).

I also spent time planning more of the new reading for September. I can't wait to show you what we have been doing.

I have emailed some of you today and will email the others tomorrow. Please look out for my email and reply to let me know how you are and what you have been doing.

I look forward to speaking to you tomorrow.

Love from

Mrs Martin

Hi Year 3!

Yesterday I spent some time finishing off sorting the Learning Hub, which with the help of some other grownups around school including Mrs Buttery, now looks great!

As Mrs Martin said above, we spent most of yesterday helping Mrs Allen, Mrs Ahmed and Mr Raven-Hill finish organising their offices. I quite enjoyed measuring out the wallpaper and matching up each piece to make sure it fit correctly. We definitely used our maths skills and measuring, which you have been learning about at the minute in your maths work.

Today I am back working with the Key Worker children. It’s great to actually see how hard some of you are working, still learning lots in these strange circumstances.

Yesterday I emailed all of your grownups, so if you haven’t replied yet, please ask your grownups to drop me an email to let me know how you all are. I can’t wait to here from you all!

Enjoy your Wednesday!
Love from,

Miss North

Maths

Today you will be measuring perimeter. This is a new concept that we didn't get the chance to properly explore when we were in school, however, you will already have some understanding of what to do.

The perimeter is the distance all the way around the outside of a 2D shape.

To work out the perimeter, add up the lengths of all the sides.

Watch the video below, then have a go at the worksheet attached. The answers are also attached below, but don't peak.

SPaG/ Writing

Rewatch the video from yesterday linked below.

We will be writing a diary entry from the perspective of the adventurer. Today we will be planning our writing. There is a template linked below to guide you with step by step on what we will be including.

Reading

Today we will be answering questions on the Loch Ness Monster. Use your keyword definitions from yesterday to help you to answer the questions.

Read it carefully as there is a lot of text.

History

Today you will be exploring if the Roman's conquered Scotland. We know what happened when the Roman's invaded England already, but how about Scotland? The BBC have uploaded a great lesson all about this.

This lesson includes:

  • three videos about the Romans in Scotland

  • two activities to build knowledge and understanding

Click the link below to learn more and have a go at the activities.
