Wednesday 1st July
Good morning Year 3!
Yesterday I had a lovely day visiting some more of you at home, telling me what you'd been up and handing over your reports. This visit even tells you whose class you'll be in from September, which is exciting! I saw 9 of you yesterday which was so lovely and I will be seeing the rest of you either tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday.
Today is my day in the Green Room with the Key Worker children. We will be carrying out our learning as normal in the morning and then we may be doing some baking or cooking in the afternoon, which will be nice.
I can't wait to see the rest of you later this week. Speak soon.
Love from Miss North
Hi Year 3,
Welcome to July!! Hopefully we will get some lovely sunshine to enjoy again this month.
As Miss North said we were out and about visiting more children yesterday. I visited 9 children yesterday and it was super to speak to you and see your faces. I can't wait to see more of you today and tomorrow.
Keep smiling and I will speak to you very soon.
Yesterday in maths we looked at 2D shapes, can you remember any names?
Today we will be exploring the properties of 3D shapes. Do you recognise the names of any of the shapes below?
Watch the video and then complete the attached worksheet. The answers are there to let you mark your work when you are finished.
Year 3 - Week 10 - Lesson 3 - Recognise and describe 3D shapes.mp4
Using your character profile from yesterday, can you plan your story of what will happen. Think about the actions that will take place. Will there be any speech involved? Add some descriptions of your character. This will all help you when you start to write up your story.
Remember, this will be submitted to the radio competition. We'd love to have a winner from Fixby!
Today's reading activity is based on a photo called 'Angry Ants'.
Look closely at the image and then, using your inference skills, answer the questions below.
- What is happening here?
- What was the girl doing before this? How do you know?
- Why are the ants angry?
- Did she fall over or get pulled over by the ants?
- What is she saying? What is she thinking? How is she feeling?
- Does anyone know that she’s there?
- What do you think is going to happen?
How do we hear sound?
That is the question we will be exploring today in Year 3 and 4. Learn about how sounds are made and what happens in our ears to allow this.
