Good Morning Children and Your Parents laugh


How are you all this morning? We hope you are all keeping well. The weather is supposed to be very hot today so remember to keep safe in the sun when you are playing outside. Don’t forget to wear your sun hat and sun cream. Keep drinking lots of water to keep yourself dehydrated as well. How did you get on with writing your winter poems? We would love to read some of them. We hope you enjoy today's art work.

We did Haikus in Week 2 – Summer poetry. Today we’re going to look at some winter haikus.

Read these poems then count the syllables in each line.



What syllable pattern do they all follow?

Reading comprehension about these Haikus.


Think about all of the ideas that you collected on Monday.

Choose a theme to write your own winter haiku. This will become the title of your poem.

Remember to follow the rules: 3 lines which follow the syllable pattern 5-7-5

(5 syllables in line 1, 7 syllables in line 2 and 5 syllables in line 3)

Write it out beautifully with a title and a picture to match.
